Should the Panthers pass on drafting a QB?

With the NFL schedule being officially released earlier this week, we know that the Carolina Panthers will have one of,  if not the toughest schedule in the league.

Knowing that, and knowing the likelihood that the Panthers will have another poor season and likely pick in the top 5 again next year, does it make sense for them to pick either Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton in this draft if they aren’t completely sold on one of them?

Matt Barkely and Andrew Luck figure to headline the 2012 draft, and both project to be better pros than either Gabbert or Newton. The Panthers may be better served taking AJ Green, Patrick Peterson or Marcel Dareus this season with an eye towards getting that franchise QB next season.
