According to AP writer Mike Cranston, Bobcats #7 overall draft pick Bismack Biyombo will go into a mediation session with his Spanish team on Friday. Jorge Sanz, the spokesman for the Spanish team says that the team will not fight Biyombo’s desire to leave but they expect receive the buyout. Sanz also says Biyombo has 2 years left on his contract and the buyout will be over $1.4 million.
If an agreement is not reached the talks will go before a judge. New Bobcats GM Rich Cho stated that the buyout “Is something we will have to address. It’s a little bit complicated”. Cho does expect the issue to be resolved in time for the start of this NBA season.
Bismack Biyombo said last Friday that he was a Free Agent and he would for sure be in the NBA next season. He and head coach Paul Silas were unavailable for any comments this week regarding the situation. Let’s hope there is no Ricky Rubio type situation next season for the Bobcats.
