Panthers agree to terms with DT Ron Edwards

The Carolina Panthers kept the chains moving on Wednesday, agreeing to terms with former Chiefs Defensive Tackle Ron Edwards on a 3-year, $8.25 million deal.

Edwards, 32, has started all 16 games for the Chiefs the last five seasons.

Originally a third round pick by the Buffallo Bills in 2001, Edwards has been a solid, but not flashy nose tackle for the last 11 seasons.

Edwards is expected to start, giving leadership and stability to a position that the Panthers have infused youth into over the last couple of seasons. Carolina spent a pair of third round picks on Terrell McClain and Sione Fua in April.
