Normally, I often blog here regularly about the latest news on the Charlotte Checkers, the Carolina Hurricanes and the NHL in general, but I’m here to talk about a change for our Carolina Panthers that took place tonight during the Pro Bowl.
In case you didn’t hear the news by now, the Carolina Panthers have unveiled its new logos for the 2012 season, and it’s going to be totally different to get used to it once the season starts. We came accustomed to the logo that represented this team since they began play in 1995.
According to Danny Morrison, the team’s President, he said that this change will continue to strengthen the Panthers brand in North and South Carolina in 2012 and beyond. “We have one of the finest and most recognizable logos in the NFL and wanted to make it as modern as possible without losing dramatic the essence of the mark.” Morrison said about the newly-redesigned logo, “It is a cleaner style that is easier to read and should be more applicable to different uses.”
Here’s how I see it, the newly-revamped cat design is okay since it’s has a little more blue incorporated into the logo and the whiskers change dramatically too, from silver to blue as well. But I’m not a fan of the wordmark that they unveiled as well.
Of course, we will see merchandise with the new logo, but it won’t be before April 1st, according to Panthers sponsorship salesperson Mike Mahoney. So, the question I have to ask you, the fans of the Carolina Panther is this: Do you love the new Panthers logo or hate it?
