Presbyterian at Charlotte Preview

The 49ers host FCS Presbyterian in their first home game of the season. Charlotte defeated Geor-gia State, 23-20, in Atlanta, Friday, to open its FBS era. It was the 49ers first game against an FBS opponent and their first game as an FBS team. Presbyterian fell on the road at Miami (Ohio), 26-7, Saturday. Charlotte got a defensive TD (Terrance Winchester 43-yard fumble return on 4th play from scrimmage), a 63-yard passing TD (Matt Johnson to Austin Duke) and 3-of-3 FG kicking from Blake Brewer. Charlotte shutout GSU for the first half and held the Panthers to 3-of-15 on third downs.

Game Notes:

Charlotte improved to 3-0 all-time in season-openers with the win at Georgia State … the 49ers are 2-0 in home openers (W, 52-7 v. Campbell; W, 56-0 v. JC Smith) heading into the Presbyterian game … Charlotte has won three straight, dating back to last year … the 49ers are 2-1 all-time on ASN broadcasts … the 49ers defeated Presbyterian, 45-21, to record their first FCS road win in 2013 … Charlotte is 1-1 vs. Presbyterian, all-time, including a 33-19 loss in 1947 when the two-year institution competed as the CCUNC Owls.
