The 49ers travel to Middle Tennessee for their first-ever Conference USA game. The 49ers were invited to join C-USA in the summer of 2012, before holding even their first practice, and spent the program’s first two years (2013; 2014) as an FCS Independent. 2015 is the 49ers first season at the FBS level. The Blue Raiders celebrated their 100th season of football in 2014. They moved to the FBS in 1999 and joined C-USA in 2013. They have played in four bowl games. Head coach Rick Stockstill in in season 10 at MT, the longest tenured coach in C-USA. The Blue Raiders are 1-1 so far with a 70-14 home win over Jackson State and a 37-10 loss at #2 Alabama.

Notes: Charlotte has won four straight, dating back to last year … the 49ers are looking to go 3-0 for the 2nd straight year … this is the first meeting between the two clubs … MT went 6-6, last year, with a 5-3 record in C-USA … the Blue Raiders return 16 starters from 2014 … Charlotte improved to 3-0 all-time in home-openers with the win over Presbyterian… the 49ers are 1-2 all-time in night games.
