The Charlotte Hornets and it’s television partner, FOX Sports Southeast(formerly SportSouth) announced today that the network will televise 81 regular season Hornets telecasts throughout North and South Carolina during the 2015-16 season, reaching 3.5 million households in the two states.
Hornets coverage on FOX Sports Southeast will begin on Wednesday, October 28th as the Hornets will head to Miami to take on the Miami Heat, with coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. with a special hour-long edition of “Hornets Live”. This season will see the debut of the new three-person broadcast crew for Hornets games on FOX Sports Southeast, as veteran broadcaster Eric Collins will join the network as the new play-by-play announcer. Collins’ broadcast background includes work with FOX Sports and FOX Sports 1 as the play-by-play announcer for college football and basketball, as well as Major League Baseball. After spending 11 seasons as sideline reporter and host of the pregame and post-game shows for the franchise, Stephanie Ready moves to the broadcast booth, where she will join Hornets legend Dell Curry on strategies and analysis. Ready is accustomed to pioneering roles for women in sports, serving as an assistant coach in the NBA D-League and the WNBA, making her the first woman to coach a men’s professional basketball team. She also served as an assistant coach at Coppin State University’s men’s basketball program. Dell Curry, the all-time leading scorer in Charlotte NBA history, will enter his 7th season as an analyst for Hornets telecasts on FOX Sports Southeast. “Hornets Live”, the team’s pregame show, will be hosted by Collins, Curry, and Ready.
Some of the highlighted games that will air on FOX Sports Southeast this season will include:
- The Hornets home opener on November 1st against Atlanta at 2:00 p.m., with pregame coverage starting at 1:30 p.m.
- Charlotte will take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first of four regular season meetings on November 27th, with pregame coverage at 6:30 p.m.
- Steph Curry and the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors will make their lone visit to Charlotte on December 2nd, with pregame coverage starting at 6:30 p.m.
In addition, Hornets games will be streamed live on the FOX Sports GO app, a free app that provides live streaming video of Charlotte Hornets games through select programming distributors, as well as other FOX Sports programming.
