Hornets daily playoff tracker

With the regular season winding down, and the playoffs right around the corner, we’ll be doing a series of daily playoff trackers leading up to the moment when the Charlotte Hornets could clinch their 10th playoff appearance in franchise history, by giving you a look at what their magic number is at this moment, the key games to watch, and the remaining games on the schedule, as well as an in-depth look at the standings in both, the Eastern Conference and the Southeast Division, as the Hornets continue their drive to returning back to the NBA playoffs continues.

Magic number to clinch playoff spot: 4, meaning any combination of Hornets wins or Chicago Bulls losses that equal up to 4, gives Charlotte it’s 10th playoff appearance in franchise history, and their third since 2014.

Key games to watch: Miami Heat @ Brooklyn Nets(7:30 p.m.); Atlanta Hawks @ Chicago Bulls(8:00 p.m.); Boston Celtics @ L.A. Clippers(10:30 p.m.).  Charlotte is currently in the 6th spot in the Eastern Conference, and they trail the Heat by a 1/2 game for the 5th spot in the East, and they trail the Celtics by a game and a half for the 4th spot in the Eastern Conference race, meaning that the Hornets need a lot of help if they want to get back into the top 4 in this playoff race, which is still wide open at this moment in time as they continue to jockey for playoff position in the final few weeks of the regular season.

Number of games remaining for Hornets: 9(3 Home vs. PHI, BKN, and ORL; 6 away at PHI, CLE, TOR, NYK, WAS, and BOS)
