The Charlotte Hornets announced its seven-game preseason schedule, which will be highlighted by a preseason home game in Greensboro, home to the Hornets new NBA D-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, on October 6th against the Boston Celtics at the Greensboro Coliseum. Charlotte will host two preseason home games at the Spectrum Center as part of this year’s preseason schedule, with games against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Miami Heat.
Charlotte will begin their preseason schedule on October 3rd in Dallas against the Mavericks at 8:30 p.m. at the AmericanAirlines Center, and on October 6th, Charlotte will square off against the Celtics at the Greensboro Coliseum in a first of a back-to-back set, with the back end coming on October 8th at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The October 6th game in Greensboro will mark the ninth time in the 27-year history of Charlotte NBA basketball that the Hornets franchise has played a game in the city, and the first since Hornets Sports and Entertainment announced that Greensboro would become the home to the Swarm, which will begin play this fall at the renovated fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
Monday, October 10th will be the first opportunity for fans to get their first glimpse at the 2016-17 Charlotte Hornets as they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at “The Hive”, with a 7:00 p.m. start. The Hornets will be back in preseason action on October 17th in Chicago as they take on Dwyane Wade and the Chicago Bulls at the United Center, before wrapping up the preseason slate with games against the Miami Heat(October 20th at Spectrum Center) and Minnesota Timberwolves(October 21st at the Target Center in Minneapolis).
Tickets for both of the Hornets preseason home games at the Spectrum Center will go on sale this Tuesday morning, and they can be purchased at the Spectrum Center box office, online at hornets.com or ticketmaster.com, the Hornets mobile app, or by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX(462-2849). Tickets for the October 6th game in Greensboro are currently on sale at all locations, as well as the Greensboro Coliseum box office.
