The 2017 baseball season is not that far away, and once again this season, the Charlotte 49ers will pay a visit to BB&T Ballpark, one of the nation’s premiere minor-league baseball stadiums for 2 games this season. The 49ers will host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Tuesday, March 21st and on Tuesday, March 28th, the N.C. State Wolfpack will come to town to take on the 49ers. Both games will start at 7:05 p.m., with the gates opening up at 6:00 p.m.
Charlotte Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski says that the entire Charlotte Knights organization is delighted to have the Charlotte 49ers play a pair of home games at BB&T Ballpark again this season. “We’re very pleased to continue the tradition of hosting the 49ers at BB&T Ballpark. Collegiate baseball has become a staple at BB&T Ballpark and coach (Loren) Hibbs, along with the entire 49ers staff and players, are great partners of ours.” Rajkowski said. “We look forward to welcoming them to the ballpark for the third consecutive year.”
On March 31st, 2015, the Charlotte 49ers hosted the N.C. State Wolfpack in the first collegiate baseball game ever in the history of BB&T Ballpark before a crowd of 8,147 fans, and a year later, Charlotte played three games at the facility, including games against the University of Georgia, N.C. State, and Winthrop University. Over the course of that time, the games have drawn 22,725 college baseball fans over the course of the 4 games that the Charlotte 49ers have played in uptown Charlotte.
“The Knights are first class organization, and we are thrilled to partner with them again in 2017 and bring two great games to BB&T Ballpark.” said Charlotte 49ers head baseball coach Loren Hibbs. “Thanks to Dan Rajkowski and Rob Egan(Knights General Manager of Baseball Operations) for providing us this tremendous opportunity.”
