The Charlotte Knights today announced that they have shifted two home game times in the later portions of the 2017 season to avoid congestion in Uptown Charlotte due to two football games taking place at Bank of America Stadium.
For the game on Thursday, August 31st, when the Charlotte Knights take on the Durham Bulls, the first pitch will now be a 12:05 p.m. start time instead of a 7:30 start, due to the Carolina Panthers preseason home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers later that night, while the BB&T Ballpark gates for that day’s game slated to open at 11:00 a.m. on August 31st. As for the game on September 2nd against the Norfolk Tides, the first pitch for that game will be moved to 8:35 p.m., instead of 1:05 p.m., due to the college football game between N.C. State and South Carolina. The gates will open at 7:30 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark for that evening’s game on September 2nd.
Charlotte Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski says that moving the game times to avoid conflict with both football games at Bank of America Stadium is the best way for everyone involved. “Our hope is to once again help alleviate traffic and congestion around the area on these dates and we hope that this will give our fans a chance to spend the day in Uptown Charlotte on both occasions to enjoy multiple events going on in the city.” Rajkowski said.
The next Charlotte Knights home game at BB&T Ballpark will be on Monday, June 26th, when they take on the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, the Columbus Clippers.
