Knights roll out 2018 schedule

The Charlotte Knights announced today its schedule for the 2018 season, which will mark the franchise’s 20th year as the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The Knights will begin the 2018 season on April 5th in Durham against the Durham Bulls, the triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays to begin a season-opening seven-game road trip that will see Charlotte face Norfolk from April 9th-11th.  The home opener at BB&T Ballpark will come on Thursday, August 12th 2018 at 7:05 p.m. against the New York Yankees triple-A affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to begin a seven game homestand.

Fans can expect a handful of promotions and events to help commemorate the 20th year of the Knights/White Sox partnership, which is the second-longest affiliation partnership in the history of the Chicago White Sox behind the team’s long-standing partnership with its double-A affiliate in the Southern League since 1986, the Birmingham Barons. In those past 20 seasons, fans have seen future Sox stars such as Chris Sale, Gordon Beckham, Aaron Rowand, Carlos Rodon, and Yoan Moncada suit up in a Knights uniform before going on to stellar careers on Chicago’s Southside with the White Sox.

One key date that fans will look forward to is Wednesday July 4, 2018, that is when the Knights will take on the Bulls as part of the annual WBT SkyShow July 4th fireworks extravaganza that is presented by News 1110/99.3 WBT, 107.9 The Link, and Sports Radio 102.5 FM/610 AM WFNZ.
