The preseason slate for the Charlotte Hornets gets underway tonight in Boston, as Charlotte begins its 5-game preseason slate against the new-look Boston Celtics.

HORNETS EXPECTATIONS AT A ALL-TIME HIGH THIS SEASON: After a disappointing season, the Hornets wanted to go big during the off-season, and boy did they ever go big, acquiring veteran NBA center Dwight Howard in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks, selecting Malik Monk and Dwayne Bacon in the NBA Draft, and signing Michael Carter-Williams in free agency.  The expectation level for Charlotte this season is somewhat at an all-time high for the team coming into the 2017-18 season, and tonight’s preseason tilt in Boston will serve as a learning curve for the Hornets as they square off against the Celtics.

BOSTON HOPES THAT HAYWARD AND IRVING ARE THE “REAL DEAL”: Like the Hornets, Boston went under a massive off-season makeover, and unlike the days of the “Big 3” of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, this year’s edition of the Celtics are hoping to have all the right ingredients this season if they want to capture their 18th NBA title.  They went out and acquired Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers, and adding Gordon Hayward to a talented roster that could be one to watch this upcoming NBA season, and the two will be in the lineup tonight for Boston, as they welcome in the new-look Charlotte Hornets to the Garden for the preseason opener.

HORNETS PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP: Marvin Williams(Forward), Michael Kidd-Gilchrist(Forward), Dwight Howard(Center), Nicolas Batum(Guard), Kemba Walker(Guard)
